Gary Brown, Ph.D., vice chancellor of student affairs and university advancement, is leaving Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) after accepting a new role at Hollins University in Roanoke, Va.
As part of this transition, the following interim, executive leadership appointments have been made:
Dr. Kevin J. Wade, Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and University Advancement
Wade is no stranger to ECSU. He is a 2002 graduate of ECSU and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration. Wade has a progressive career in higher education with more than 15 years serving at our nation’s community colleges and public and private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Wade is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He has certifications in fundraising and board member essentials for non-profit organizations. Wade received a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy University and a Doctor of Education degree in Community College and Higher Education Leadership from Morgan State University.
Dr. Nichole Lewis, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor of Student, Alumni, and Constituent Engagement
Lewis will continue her strong work as interim associate vice chancellor of Student, Alumni, and Constituent Engagement focused on conduct, care, and community. She will also lead high-impact university initiatives that enhance visibility and foster greater engagement.
Lewis earned her educational doctorate from East Carolina University (ECU), a Mass Media Arts degree from Hampton University (HU), and an MBA from the Fox School of Business at Temple University (TU). She is a member of The Links, Incorporated and a fourth generation Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. member.
“Dr. Wade and Dr. Lewis are esteemed individuals within the Viking community,” said ECSU Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon. “I am confident that they will continue to contribute significantly to the growth and success of ECSU.”
